Unfledged Piping Plover chicks were found Thursday, June 21, 2012 at beach access 18 (point of breakers/sewer beds beach). To comply with Piping Plover managemen Post Town News and Notices here.t guidelines from Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and United States Fish and Wildlife, the vehicle access will be closed until the chicks fledge. The guidelines require a minimum 200 yard buffer from vehicle traffic to unfledged chicks. The chicks will be monitored on a daily basis and vehicle traffic will be allowed on the beach after they have fledged. The Natural Resources Coordinator anticipates this to be in about 20-25 days.
