The NP&EDC was created by Warrant Article 5 of the January 25, 1973 Special Town Meeting of the Town of Nantucket and by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts pursuant to Chapter 561 of the Acts of 1973, as amended by Warrant Article 117 of the 1980 Annual Town Meeting and Chapter 98 of the Acts of 1981 and Warrant Article 57 of the Annual Town Meeting of 1991 and Chapter 458 of the Acts of 1991. NP&EDC is the only regional planning agency (RPA) representing one town, the Town of Nantucket.
