Neighborhood First Advisory Committee

Mission

The Neighborhood First Advisory Committee has been tasked with making recommendations to the Nantucket Affordable Housing Trust and Select Board on the most effective means, in accordance with the 2019 Annual Town Meeting Article 37 and accompanying ballot measure, to invest $20,000,000 of Town resources specifically allocated to produce additional affordable workforce housing inventory. The underlying mission of the Neighborhood First program is 1) to establish criteria for evaluating housing opportunities to fulfill the intent of Article 37; 2) to facilitate the creation of adequate affordable housing stock in order to comply with Safe Harbor provisions, and; 3) to meet or exceed the requirement that 10% of the island’s year round housing inventory be available for low- and moderate-income households.
