The state has updated guidance on the Reopening Massachusetts website. The Town continues to update island-specific guidance on this website.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans.  In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19.

The Town’s Emergency Response Team for the COVID19 Event is activated and works daily on COVID19 related issues, including:  responding to questions; requests for information; communications with the public, town departments and agencies, state agencies, non-profit groups, elected officials, the press; updating the Town website and social media platforms with current and accurate information; providing daily and weekly reports and updates to the Select Board; tracking expenses and costs associated with this Event for future reimbursement; ensuring that we are receiving and obtaining the most current information possible from state and federal agencies and sources; ensuring that our Town departments have what they need to respond to this Event; maintaining daily communication with Nantucket Cottage Hospital; and other related activities, tasks and operations. The Team is spread out among various town facilities and some are working remotely from home.
