Starting September 1, 2016, all vendors within the Town of Nantucket must comply by the Biodegradable Packaging Regulation set forth by the Board of Public Works. A downloadable copy of the Regulations and some informational documents are available below.
There are specific exemption to this regulations. All exemptions are as follows:
Exceptions to Local Regulation 71.00: Biodegradable Packaging
All of the following may still be used:
- Aluminum
- Paper products
- Plastic bread bags
- Saran wrap
- Packaging for products made off island
- Food banks and food assistance programs are exempt
