The Town invites you to its second Coastal Resiliency Workshop on Wednesday, July 18th, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, in the PSF Community Room, 4 Fairgrounds Road.
Given events like this winter’s nor’easters, we are reminded that we are living in an era of unpredictable weather, seal-level rise and more severe coastal events. As a community we have experienced loss and damage impacting our residents, beaches, and infrastructure.
Following national best practices and with state-wide encouragement from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, we are reaching out to stake- holders and the public to help provide input toward the development of a Coastal Resiliency Plan. With presentations and workshops, we will facilitate the education, planning and ultimately implementation of priority actions to increase resilience in our Nantucket community.
The workshop objectives include the following:
Provide an overview on the concept of Coastal Resilience
Using risk management to identify and prioritize activities for Coastal Resiliency here on the island• Collecting information and input from participants using a charrette structure and collaboration sessions to discuss, clarify and identify actions and solutions for the community.
The Town has engaged Milone & MacBroom, Inc. to assist the Town with the development of a Coastal Resiliency Plan. We hope you can participate in this opportunity to bring together community members and comprehensively identify steps to reduce risk and improve resilience across Nantucket. We need community input!
