Due to the presence of State and Federally protected species, and to maintain compliance with state and federal guidelines, Smith’s Point will be closed to vehicle traffic this morning.
The beach is still open to pedestrians and we ask for beach goers to remain outside the symbolic fencing and to keep pets leashed.
The reopening date for vehicles is unknown at this time; it is dependent on the presence of the protected species. The site will be monitored on a daily basis in an effort to minimize the duration of the restriction.
Please direct questions and driving status requests to Coastal Resources Technician, Morgan Sayle at msayle@nantucket-ma.gov.
