1. How to obtain a Nantucket Disabled Parking Permit Application

• Visit your Nantucket physician for an application


• Contact the Nantucket Commission on Disability for an application and an application will be sent to you


• Part-time residents and full-time residents may apply

2. If the anticipated length of your temporary disability is less than six months

Complete your application and apply for a temporary permit at the Nantucket Police Station at 4 Fairgrounds Rd

3. If the anticipated length of your temporary disability is six months or greater

Send your completed application to the Commission on Disability at the address on the application.

4. If you have a permanent disability

Send your completed application to the Commission on Disability at the address on the application.

5. Where are the accessible parking spaces in town?

There are 10 disabled parking spaces in the core downtown area

• 2 spaces on Center Street near Main Street


• 1 space on Center Street near Broad Street


• 2 spaces on Federal Street near Broad Street


• 2 spaces on Federal Street near India Street


• 1 space on Cambridge Street near Coal Lane


• 1 space on South Water Street near Broad Street


• 1 space on Washington Street near Main Street


• 2 spaces on South Water Street outside the Dreamland Theater

6. Where can I rent motorized and manual wheelchairs?

You can rent a manual wheelchair at the following locations, Nantucket Pharmacy on Main Street 508-228-0180 and Dan’s Pharmacy at Nantucket Commons 508-825-9100. You cannot rent a motorized wheelchair on Nantucket. However, you can rent one in Hyannis, Massachusetts and bring it with you on the ferry. Please call Westgate Home Medical Equipment in advance and make the necessary arrangements.
