October 2023: Town Manager, Select Board, Water Co., Health Dept. work to Establish Course of Action for Private Wells Contact MassDEP directly with questions about PFAS Sampling of Private Wells

The Town of Nantucket  has responded to neighborhood concerns about the presence of Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (“PFAS”) in the private wells that were sampled by MassDEP. The Town is working with MassDEP, the Water Company and its consultants to see if MassDEP SRF  “Emergency Funds”  or other funding sources are available  for remediation efforts.  The Town is working to establish a course of action.

The Town will continue to reach out to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and abide by the rules and procedures that they have been set forth.
